Vangelis



Vangelis had a remarkable career spanning nearly six decades, pioneering electronic, ambient, and orchestral music. He started in the 1960s with the Greek rock band The Forminx, later joining Aphrodite’s Child, whose album 666 became a progressive rock classic.
In the 1970s, he moved to London, establishing Nemo Studios, where he composed influential solo albums like Heaven and Hell and Albedo 0.39. His collaboration with Jon Anderson of Yes led to the successful Jon & Vangelis project.
His 1980s and 1990s were defined by legendary film scores, including Chariots of Fire (which won him an Academy Award), Blade Runner, and 1492: Conquest of Paradise. He also composed the official anthem for the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
In his later years, Vangelis collaborated with NASA and ESA, creating space-themed albums like Rosetta (2016) and Juno to Jupiter (2021). His legacy as a visionary composer continues to inspire musicians around the world .
